“Many care operators today are facing more financial pressures than ever before. It is therefore imperative we offer our members a way to address such cost pressures without compromising on the quality of care. I am therefore delighted to announce that Marr Procurement, the Care Sector Procurement Specialist, has joined the National Care Forum as a new partner in 2017.” Vic Rayner, Executive Director, NCF

For organisations entering into a commercial arrangement with Marr Procurement, NCF has secured a number of substantive discounts.

Gainshare: Marr Procurement works on a gainshare arrangement where they charge a percentage of an audited saving once consumption of a good or service from a preferred supply agreement has occurred.

This arrangement works for two years after the establishment of the agreement. However, for NCF members the gainshare period has been reduced from two years to one year. A significant material saving.

Fixed fee: In addition, NCF have negotiated a full waiver of the fixed monthly fee. This is a permanent waiver, and of course, depending on the length of engagement can represent a significant savings of thousands of pounds, as the standard fee is £2000 per month.

Finally, members may be interested in a brand new service that Marr Procurement has developed, which brings the benefits of procurement to organisations of all sizes.
Their new online buying portal gives clients access to a regularly competed and managed supply base, particularly valuable if they don’t have their own procurement person or team. Marr Procurement will work with great suppliers, with the whole management and supply process independently audited by Deloitte; enabling an unexpurgated audit report to be sent to each client in relation.

If you would like to find out more about what Marr Procurement can do for your organisation, then contact Christoph Marr on christoph.marr@marrprocurement.com

In addition, if you wish to be connected to an NCF member already using their services then please review the testimonials on the website, and NCF can connect you directly.

“It is a privilege to be involved with the National Care Forum. I have worked in the UK care sector for a little over 45 years and never before have I seen the kind of cost pressures that care operators are facing today. Marr Procurement is like a breath of fresh in that not only do they produce outstanding results but they are also open, honest and nice people to work with. At a time when the UK care sector is facing real financial difficulties, if there is one organisation that can help to reduce operating costs without compromising on quality or care, it’s Marr Procurement."

Invatech Health Ltd

Invatech Health specialises in the creation and development of Innovative healthcare solutions. Invatech Health has brought together an expert team of healthcare professionals and developers to solve the problem of medicine management in care homes through proven technology.

Digital technology is now being widely introduced across the NHS and private healthcare sector to transform and enable the optimisation of patient orientated care. It is against this background that Invatech Health has developed a digital medication management solution for care homes called the Proactive Care System (PCS). Invatech’s system is unique in that it links the care home and pharmacy in real time and securely shares resident data. Having one shared medication record for residents enables nurses, carers, and pharmacists to have a complete picture of what is prescribed, dispensed and actually administered and thus an enhanced level of care can be provided.

Independent evaluation by Cardiff University has further highlighted that the PCS eliminates 21 out of 23 most common paper system driven medicines errors and also enables a 55% reduction in the value of care homes returned medicines to Pharmacies and a 22% reduction in medicines overstocks.

Recent research has also shown that a typical care home of circa 40 placements will allocate 350 hours of staff time to medicines management tasks per month such as following up prescription queries, ordering and booking in medicines, dealing with returns and administration to residents. The PCS typically saves 65 hours of staff time per month which can then be redirected towards resident focused activities.

Invatech Health has recently introduced a new analytical tool designed for care home groups, the Beacon Med Score, which assigns individual care homes a single performance score for medicines management by analysing seventeen operational and stock related activities. This allows senior managers the ability to set targets and compare and benchmark performance between services. With three “mouse clicks” senior managers can drill down and identify which home, which activity and which member of staff needs to be supported to make improvements.

Ashleigh at Bethany Care Home in Gwent   explains how easy it is to use PCS to help her   with the management of residents’ medicines.

The Proactive Care System was the winner of   the 2016 Health Services Journal Award for Improving Care through Technology. The leading provider of innovative mobile solutions for evidencing care interactions, electronic care planning and reporting, called Mobile Care Monitoring.

We give tangible benefits to everyone involved in care, and the tools for care homes to share information with families via our Relatives Gateway.

Mobile Care Monitoring enables over 530 care homes to evidence care as it happens with our easy-to-use app, creating more than 700,000 care notes per day. By reducing paperwork and giving carers more time to care, we help to improve care quality and the overall care cycle. Our system supports CQC inspections, helping providers to be recognised for innovative, transparent and person-centred care.

We are delighted to be NCF’s new Annual Partner, supporting the Rising Star Programme 2017 and giving all 10 Rising Stars the opportunity to attend the NCF Managers Conference 2017.  For more information on the conference programme and registration follow this link

Remarkable Lives
Our Memory-sharing App and Care Platform have been co-designed with care staff, older people and families. Combining technology and reminiscence, Remarkable Lives is easy to use, digitises information and activity, saves time and money, fulfils CQC outcomes, and enhances health and wellbeing by putting human stories at the heart of care.

It's a care passport, so the next person you meet on your journey through later life - a carer, nurse, therapist, doctor - will know much more about who you are; much more than a collection of symptoms and tasks.

A problem in two parts
We identified two issues that impact wellbeing and our chances of ageing healthily:
  1. We have medical records, but there is no equivalent record that captures our personal life history – what makes us who we are.
  2. We have social media to document our lives in the present, but there is none that chronicles our life story from the beginning.
The result?
  • Loss of memories
  • Reduced engagement and empathy
  • Increased loneliness and social isolation
  • Low caregiver motivation and retention
  • Duplication of tasks and arduous form-filling for healthcare teams
Our connected solution

Remarkable Lives: a public app for saving & sharing memories

  • Saves memories on a personal timeline of photos, audio and video
  • Connects family and friends
  • Puts life stories on the record

WHICH CONNECTS WITH

Remarkable Care: a care platform powered by life stories

  • Digitises information and activity
  • Brings families and care staff together
  • Improves the care management process
  • Fulfills regulatory requirements
  • Saves time and money
