Strength, & Balance Training, whether for re-enablement, falls prevention, or to maintain or regain independence and lifestyle (and reduce costs of care) it really is 'never too late'…
Enshrined within the 2011 CMO 'Public Health Guidelines', the recommendations for older adults (65+) were a paradigm shift in emphasis….but how to do-so safely, enjoyably, and inclusively, and whilst gathering an evidence base?
HUR, from Finland, have been working within 'elderly care' for many years, supplying pneumatic (air-based resistance) equipment, together with (optional) SmartTouch technology  to enable this…easy to operate, personal settings, joints protected etc..
East Asia, and the Nordic countries seem to lead to way in these areas, but we are learning fast in the UK, and 2018 will witness the start of the PANINI project, and by which time there will be several HUR SmartTouch Care/Retirement facilities operational within the UK.

Ensuring your residents’ clothing is correctly returned to them is extremely important to their comfort and dignity. Despite this, lost property is still one of the biggest causes for complaint in many care homes.

Traditionally residents in care homes would have their clothes name labels put in by their families. However, the common methods of marker pen and iron on names wash off very quickly in a care home laundry and sew-on labels are very time consuming to attach.

The Fixxon button labelling system is a brilliantly efficient way of identifying clothing.

Due to our unique attachment method, the button labels are smooth, comfortable and discreet on all items of clothing (even socks!)
The resident’s room number (or name) is clearly laser-etched onto the buttons labels, ensuring the marking withstands the chemicals and high temperatures encountered in a care home laundry system.
The buttons can be colour-coded to match different areas or floors of your care home and are securely attached to garments using the specially designed tools to ensure they do not come off in the wash.
The result is happy residents knowing that their clothes will be safely returned to them, and an efficient in-house laundry system.

“Have had the system for about a year, good relationship with Fixxon. Very cost effective, re-usable and durable, really happy with how well the system is working in the home and being a dementia care home the tags are not being pulled off by residents like alternative labelling products. Reduced the loss of laundry.”
