On Monday 24 April, residents and staff at De Lucy House care home in Diss became the proud owners of 6 duck eggs, together with incubator, brooder and cage. Over the next few days all 6 ducklings successfully hatched.
Residents have thoroughly enjoyed caring for the ducklings, from watching patiently, waiting for the eggs to hatch, to drying the duckling with towels after a swim in the paddling pool.
The ducklings have visited everyone at De Lucy House, which is owned by Greensleeves Care
including less mobile residents. The obvious enjoyment and smiles on people’s faces has been wonderful to see.
The entire process has been extremely successful and everyone will be sad to see the ducklings move on to their new home on Friday. Their new home will be a farm owned by mum of a staff member, where the ducks will live happily as pets.
