A heartfelt thank you

25 February 2019

After nearly 10 years of working for the National Care Forum, and many more years prior to that as a member, it is now time for a new adventure. Seizing the opportunity and putting into practice the concept of embracing later life.

I will take with me so many wonderful memories of working with you, the NCF membership. It really has been a joy to journey with you and to be able to ensure your voice is heard at the various national tables I have represented you all on.

Thank you to you all for making my work life so fulfilling and richer; your messages have been heart-warming; somewhat overwhelming …… I am extremely grateful.

Over the years we have laughed, shared triumphs, and been frustrated. ASC has progressed - all the individual and collective efforts of you, as providers has contributed to that. Policy/governments come and go but you are relentless in your determination to enable people to live fulfilling and meaningful lives.

Working with the people who use your services and their loved ones; your staff enable them to have voice , choice and control. Relationships are the bedrock of all we do and achieve because it is all about people.

Much work is still required.

Whilst ASC has moved up the agenda, Government, society and many others across health still need to be helped to understand the value of social care and how it makes a positive difference to people lives, the community and wider society.

The people who use services and you as providers have much to offer in articulating what social care is and what it achieves.

I will continue to champion the voice of people using services; providers and ASC as a sector. Please do not let your voices be silenced; continue to be relational; intentional and of course the absolute stars that you are. Stay connected, continuing to learn and support each other. This is the strength of the NCF membership, and which has enabled my work to be so fulfilling.

Every good wish for the future.
